Immigration

NEXT Hamilton

Mayor's Priorities for the NEXT Hamilton:

4. Immigration

Mayor's Immigration Strategy Roundtable: Our immigrant communities must be equal and engaged partners in the ongoing development of our City. To help see that happen, we continue to move ahead with the Mayor's Immigration Strategy Roundtable for the City of Hamilton. The Local Immigration Partnership Council (LIPC) is being established, and we have submitted a proposal to Citizenship and Immigration Canada to create an immigration strategy for Hamilton.

As Mayor, I am committed to this work. Through the development of the proposal, we have strengthened relationships among stakeholders and generated interest and momentum for the development of a local Immigration Strategy. By working with community-based organizations like SISO and the Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion, we are committed to investing time, money, and energy in providing assistance to help new Canadians adapt to life in Hamilton and integrate into our city's life and workforce.
