MAYOR FRED WELCOMES NOVEMBER 'MAYOR FOR A DAY' STUDENTS

HAMILTON - Mayor Fred Eisenberger was pleased to host two recipients of the Mayor for a Day program at City Hall today.

Kerri-Anne Fragata of Glendale Secondary School and Breanna Tilban of St. Claire Assisi School in Stoney Creek accompanied the Mayor to an official breakfast, after which they were introduced to ward councilors and city staff during a Committee of the Whole meeting in the Council Chamber's this morning.

The grade eight and nine students were presented with a certificate from the Mayor's Office acknowledging their participation in the Mayor for the Day program, toured City Hall and other municipal sites.

"I am delighted to have Kerri-Anne and Breanna accompanying me in my duties as Mayor of Hamilton and encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to experience this unique educational opportunity," says Mayor Fred Eisenberger.  "It was very encouraging to hear their views about poverty alleviation and their views on job creation. It is important that our youth take an interest in our city and understand the role and function of municipal government."

Kerri-Anne and Breanna were selected Mayors for the Day based on their answers provided on a questionnaire made available to middle school and high school students in the city during Education Week in April.

Mayor for the Day is part of the Mayor's Youth Initiative and is open to all students in grades five to twelve in Hamilton.  Two students are selected Mayor for the Day each month of the school year based on their answers to a questionnaire.
